Left atrial myxoma with multiple cerebral infarcts and multiple intracranial aneurysms

چکیده
Atrial myxomas are benign tumors, and most of them are located in the left atrium. Left atrial myxoma commonly leads to cerebral embolic ischemic stroke. The intracranial aneurysm is rarely associated with myxoma. There are few reports about left atrial myxoma leading simultaneously to both anterior and posterior circulation infarction, and multiple intracranial saccular aneurysms. Now we report such a case.

Multiple cerebral mycotic aneurysms due to left atrial myxoma: are there any pitfalls for the cardiac surgeon?
Acute cerebral embolism or cerebral aneurysm formation as a consequence of left atrial myxomas has been well documented, but the formation of multiple cerebral aneurysms resulting from atrial myxoma is a very rare neurological complication. We present the case of a 72-year-old-woman with a cardiac myxoma who suffered multiple cerebral mycotic aneurysms. After experiencing both vertigo and a sud...
متن کاملCerebral aneurysms in atrial myxoma: a delayed, rare manifestation.
Atrial myxomas are the most common primary tumors of the heart. Neurologic involvement usually occurs as a stroke with ischemic episodes. Following excision of cardiac myxomas, delayed neurologic events owing to aneurysms are rare and have not been reported from India. We report an operated case of left atrial myxoma. The patient initially presented with a stroke and 6 months after the surgery,...
متن کاملComplicated Sporadic Cardiac Myxomas: A Second Recurrence and Myxomatous Cerebral Aneurysms in One Patient
A second recurrence of an excised nonfamilial cardiac myxoma is rare. Myxomatous cerebral aneurysms as a complication of cardiac myxomas are equally rare. A unique case of a patient with a total of 4 myxomas over a 20-year interval is presented. Her most recent presentation was a second recurrence of a left atrial myxoma, a de novo right atrial myxoma, and multiple cerebral myxomatous aneurysms...
متن کاملA case of biatrial multiple myxomas with glandular structure.
A 45-year-old male, who had been indicated by brain magnetic resonance imaging to have cerebral infarctions, was found by echocardiography to have a tumor in the left atrium. He had experienced several of the constitutional disturbances associated with myxoma. At the ages of 19 and 35 he had had two episodes associated with embolisms, and at the later one he was diagnosed as having multiple cer...
متن کاملEmergency Excision of Cardiac Myxoma and Endovascular Coiling of Intracranial Aneurysm after Cerebral Infarction
Cardiac myxoma is the most common primary tumor of the heart, located mainly in the left atrium. Cerebral embolization or intracranial aneurysm formation as a consequence of left atrial myxomas has been well documented, whereas myxoma embolization causing the combination of cerebral infarction and intracranial myxomatous aneurysm is rare. We report herein, a 67-year-old female with a cardiac my...
